Sewer Rates and Billing
All users connected to the publicly owned sanitary sewer system are billed on the basis of equivalent residential units and on the water meter readings for the month.
Users may request an adjustment to their monthly sewer charges according to usage of metered, calculated or set amounts of water not introduced into the sewer system. Call the City Clerk's Office at (218) 262-3486 ext 711 to request an adjustment.
Sewage TreatmentThe south waste water treatment plant has a three stage trickling filter system. It has two mechanical bar screens, one grit removal system, two primary clarifiers, four trickling filters, one chlorination/dechlorination tank, one gravity thickening unit, two anaerobic digesters, three equalization basins, one biosolids storage lagoon, and one duel media filter system. The plant is rated for 4.5 million gallons a day with and average of 2 million per day with storage ponds capable of approximately 47 million gallons.
